When X hit the new wave scene in 1978, it hit hard, with the biting lyrical
imagery of lead
singers John Doe and Exene Cervenka, Don Bonebrake's powerful drumming,
and Billy
Zoom's stunning rockabilly guitar. It was a group that dominated L.A.'s
new music scene
from their inception to their more or less dissolution in 1988.
