The Ivar Theater

Recently a strip-show house, the Ivar was a legit theater when Lord Buckley
recorded a live
album there on February 12, 1959, and when the Grateful Dead played there
on February
25, 1966.
(The Tom Waits song, "Emotional Weather Report," makes reference
to "a ticket taker's
smile" at the Ivar.)
Strip shows have only recently ceased, and the venue may return to concertizing.
